International Rivers condemns the recent and historic violence and harassment towards Asian Americans in the United States. We have signed the below statement in solidarity. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to sign on here.

The brutal murders in Atlanta, Georgia are a devastating reminder of the extreme harm racism, white supremacy, gun violence, and gender violence can do to our communities.

We at International Rivers join others in mourning the loss of the lives of Soon Chu Park, Hyun Jung Grant, Suncha Kim, and Yong Ae Yue, Delaina Ashley Yaun, Paul Andre Michels, Xiaojie Tan, and Daoyou Feng, and all others whose lives have been lost or harmed due to anti-Asian hatred and gender violence.

There is no place for violence whether people are at their places of work, within their communities, or are working to secure their livelihoods and well-being.

Anti-Asian and gender violence is insidious across all social infrastructures; systematically denying access to vital resources such as clean air and water, education, and healthcare.
